Obituary

On Tuesday January 21, 2014 at home, God called his sweet and loving servant, Victoria J. Horne to her eternal rest. She was born on March 18, 1912 in Princess Anne County to the late Carrie Darden and Azariah Gatlin. She was preceded in death by her parents and 12 siblings.

Victoria affectionately called Aunt Vic accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member and attended The Gift of Life Church where she remained faithful until her death. She loved her church, supported it and only missed attending when her health prevented her from doing so.

Aunt Vic, moved to New York in her early 20´s and lived there for 70 years. While living in New York she was a member of the St. Peters Methodist Church and was employed at the Dean Whipping factory where she was a dedicated employee. In 2002 she moved back to Virginia Beach, where she was provided loving long-term care by her nieces Vivian Wiggins and Martinee Torres.

Precious memories will be cherished by her caretakers Vivian Wiggins, Martinee Torres and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her life was a wonderful example of compassion and giving. She leaves a legacy of Christian love and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

A home going celebration will be 11:00 am Saturday at Gift of Life Church. Interment will follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday from 3-7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
