Viney Lorraine Bundick was born on May 3, 1934 to the late Silas Pate and Jennie Martin of Rocky Mount, Virginia. She departed this life on January 12, 2007 with her children by her side.
She was raised and received her education in Rocky Mount, Virginia. In the early 50?s she relocated to Manhattan, New York. She spent several years in Pellham, New York, where she served as a savvy domestic engineer for the Allen Family. Her creative skills were evident to all through her God given ability to create her own original designs and crafts. In 1960, she married her lifelong sweetheart and the two remained totally committed for 47 years. Viney was a dedicated member of Bethany Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. She also belonged to the Eastern Stars, Euclid Lodge #48 in Manhattan, New York. Some of her favorite past times include dancing, sewing, gardening, decorating, cooking, admiring her priceless doll collection and strolling down memory lane with her classic music collection.
Viney was predeceased by her parents, Silas Pate and Jennie Martin, her husband of 47 years, Calvin R. Bundick, two sisters, Bessie Pate and Katherine Pate and two brothers, Anthony Pate and James Pate. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving daughter Hestealier Alston (Robert Alston) of Hackensack, NJ; three sons, Alvin R. Bundick (Deidra Bundick) of Paterson, NJ, Jerome O. Decker-Pate of Atlanta, GA, and Emanuel McKinley, whereabouts unknown; one grandson, James Alston of Hackensack, NJ, one granddaughter, Brianna Bundick of Paterson, NJ; one brother, George Washington-Pate of Roanoke, VA, one sister, Minnie Pauline Viar of Atlanta, GA; two special nephews, Warren Pate of Lexington, NC and Lonnie Bynum of Atlanta, GA, two treasured nieces, Lolaine Bynum of Atlanta, GA, and Jennie Walker of Arlington, VA, two devoted cousins, Wanda Shoulders of Rocky Mount, VA and Virginia Jones of Martinsville, VA, a dear friend who is like another daughter, Patricia Cash of Hackensack, NJ and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 2587 Campostella Road, Chesapeake, Virginia. Dr. Jake Manley, pastor officiating. Interment will be held Monday January 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Quantico National Cemetery. Triangle, Virginia. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake are in charge of arrangements.
