Cuffee-Whitehead
August 1, 1947 – August 24, 2025
Virginia Inez Cuffee Whitehead was called home to eternal rest on August 24, 2025. She was born to Clarence Cuffee Sr. and Betty Ellis Cuffee on August 1, 1947. Educated in the Chesapeake Public School District, graduating from Crestwood High School in 1965.
Worked in her community as a hair stylist, as an insurance agent, relocating to Northern, VA for a few years to work for a financial institution, to return home, in 1973, and soon married the love of her life Emmit L. Whithead. For over 30 years she was a Realtor for Long & Foster and Shaffer Realty, assisting family, friends, and the community with their desires to obtain home ownership. Very gifted with home décor, and fashion was some of her greatest passions. She was a Deaconess in her church, volunteered to work with voting at the polls and with her Brother Clarence V. Cuffee on the Crestwood Reunion committee to assist with an annual remembrance for the community.
Preceded in death by her husband Emmit L. Whitehead, parents, Clarence and Betty Cuffee, brother Frankie Cuffee (Sharif Bilal), brother Clarence Cuffee, sister Agnes Cowell (William Cowell), sister Akilal K. Bilal (Betty Cuffee), niece Gwendolyn Jennings (Niecy), great nephew Amol Bilal, and nephew Daoud Bilal (David).
She leaves to cherish her memory sisters Leslie A. Cuffee, and Ramona E. Cuffee of Norfolk, VA; sister-in law LaBarbara Cuffee of Chesapeake, VA; stepdaughters, Monalisa Gary of Chesapeake, VA and Ivery Michelle High of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, JeVonne, Darius, Ivery, and Kenedi, James; great-grandchildren, Kiya, Sydney, and London; six nephews, nine nieces, fourteen great nephews, eleven great nieces, twenty great-great nephews and twenty-three great-great nieces, cousins, a very special friend Inez Baucum, godchildren LeRoy and L. Mia Richardson, extended family, and friends.
Viewing will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at First Baptist Church South Hill, 3633 Galberry Rd, Chesapeake, VA. Interment will be on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memeorial Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Scholarship at Norfolk State University.
