Chesapeake - William Edward Boone of the 1600 block of Rhodes Street entered into eternal rest March 9, 2008.



He was born May 9, 1923, to Elizabeth and Anderson Boone in Norfolk, Virginia and was educated in the public schools of Norfolk. He was married to the late Beatrice Scott Boone for 546 years.



William Boone served in the United States Army for three years. After retirement from the Norfolk Naval Base he was employed by the City of Norfolk for 15 years which led to his second retirement.



He joined First Baptist Church of Campostella and was a member for over 60 years. William Boone had a special love for music and became a faithful and devoted member of the Male Chorus and the Southside Male Chorus Union. He was a member of the Deacon Ministry, Wednesday Night Prayer Circle and Bible Study. His love for the Word of God was instrumental in his desire to be a Sunday School Teacher and Bible Scholar.



He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, William E. Boone Jr., and Lewis Boone and his wife Vanessa of Chesapeake; his granddaughter, Stephanie of Chesapeake; two sisters, Blance Boone and Sara Lee Burks both of Suffolk; two brothers, Irving and his wife Gwen of Chicago, Illinois, and Ruby and his wife Sarah of Winston Salem, North Carolina; caregiver, Connie Jennette of Chesapeake, a host o nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.



A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Campostella, Internment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing will be held 2pm ? 7 pm Thursday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
