William A. Chasten, Sr., peacefully went home to be with the Lord April 9, 2024. He is survived by his wife Dr. Muriel H. Chasten, one granddaughter Ann Chasten, two sisters-in-law Naomi Holmes and Clara Simpson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Third Baptist Church, 461 Godwin Street, Portsmouth, VA 23704. Following the service, burial with full military honors will be at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake.
