IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Tyrone
Freeman
January 12, 1951 – September 4, 2023
Once again, our Heavenly Father has dispatched His angels to usher one of His children from life into eternal rest. Our family circle was broken on Monday, September 4, 2023, when our dear brother departed his earthly home to be with our Heavenly Father. William Tyrone Freeman, affectionally called "Ronnie", was born on January 12, 1951, to the late Curtis L. Freeman and Dorothy Freeman Blanchard. He is preceded in death by his parents, and wives: Doretha, Cathy, and Laurel.
Ronnie grew up in Norfolk, VA where he attended Norfolk Public Schools. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1969 with honors. Ronnie was an amazing student, so it was no surprise that he was always on the "A" honor roll. Ronnie continued his secondary education at Norfolk State University briefly, prior to his marriage to Doretha. He later enlisted in the Unites States Army, ending his military career as a Disabled Veteran. Ronnie was also married to Laurel where they lived in Roanoke, VA until her untimely passing. The joy of Ronnie's life was traveling the country and sharing with family and friends his many exploits.
Ronnie was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church Compostella where he served faithfully with a bright steady spirit singing the hymns of Zion in the Choir and serving on the Usher Ministry. One of the highlights of his life was going Christmas caroling during the Holiday Season. Worship was the center and joy of Ronnie's life leading him to find a church wherever he went. God led him to Spirit of Truth Ministries in Chesapeake, VA, where he became a faithful member, under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Reverend Tyrone Armstrong.
Ronnie was a devoted and active member who understood his purpose. He demonstrated a great faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to his church through his faithful service in the Men's Ministry, Sunday School, Bible Study, Choir and Usher Ministries. His true calling was to serve others as he always gave freely of his time and himself to the point of giving all he had.
Ronnie leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters: Felecia Lindsay of Chesapeake, VA and Tanya Lockwood of Lexington Park, MD; one son William Tyrone Sutton of Norfolk, VA; three brothers David Freeman (Anita) of Chesapeake, VA, Reginald (Willie) of Suffolk, VA and Ricky (Marie) of Norfolk, VA; three sisters Carolyn Waters (Greg) of Portsmouth, VA, Phyllis Howell (Clifford) of Norfolk, VA , and June Hawkins (Gregory) of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren Victor Lindsay and Isaiah Lindsay of Virginia Beach, VA, Latoya Saunders of Virginia Beach, VA, Shanea Lockwood of Springhill, FL, Jeremiah Lockwood and Jennette Lockwood of Arlington, VA, Tamari Owens of Norfolk, VA., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
