Obituary

Deacon Willie M. Sears, Sr. was born to the late Charlie and Dorothy Sears on December 31, 1938. He was employed with Chesapeake Public Schools for over 30 years where he was a Supervisor and dedicated mentor.

At the tender age of 16, he became a member of the Silver Stars Male Choir. Willie loved the lord and he proved it by singing gospel music all over the state of Virginia.

He became a member of the W.G. Alexander Lodge #289 Prince Hall Affiliation of the 3 rd Masonic District for the State of Virginia on September 28, 1978. He proudly served in various positions including Past Master.

For over 40 years he was a Deacon and a devoted member of the United House of Prayer.

He departed this life on May 24, 2020 at the hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn L. Sears. He leaves to mourn 7 children: Eugene Cash (Barbara), Willie Sears Jr., Roscoe Jeffery, Loretta Jeffery, Barbara Futrell (Harold), Sheryl Boyles, and Lafond Pruitt (Terrance);  ); 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

Viewing will be held Tuesday, from 10:00 am until 11:45 am at the United House of Prayer for All People, 1433 Whittamore Road, Chesapeake, where the service will be private. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
