Willie L. Twine, 87, was called home to be with the Lord on September 3, 2018. Born in Chesapeake, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lee Hendricks and Lawrence Lee Washington Jr. While attending Bells Mill Elementary School she volunteered as a cafeteria worker. Before her retirement she worked for Valley Poultry in Norfolk, Young Nursing Home, and she did domestic work in various houses.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther James Twine Jr., son David Twine, daughter Sherell Marie Twine, brothers Elijah Lee, and Shirley Lee. Sisters Bertha Donnison, Patty Lee Chestnut, Bessie Jones, Blanche White and Helen Newby. Survivors include four sons Luther J. Twine III, Larry Winslow(Linda), Randy Arnold(Dora), and Alphonzo Twine all of Chesapeake; four daughters Kim R. Watts of Danville, VA, Clementine Barnes(Milton) of Rocky Mount, NC, Malade Morris(Roy) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Urica Edmond(Barry) of Woodbridge, VA; one brother Lawrence "Dan" Washington Lee of Rockville, MD; two sisters Irene Townsend(Roosevelt) and Odessa Ricks; three brothers-in-law Leroy Twine(Linda), Hercules Twine, and Sylester Twine(Shirley); three sisters-in-law Vernell Spellman(W.L.), Mary Jane McCollough, and Roberta Mclean; 26 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of fostered children, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at New Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be 5pm until 7pm Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.pretloweandsons.com.
