Wilma A. Eley, 94, took rest from her labor early Friday morning on October 12, 2018 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was born on February 2, 1924 to the late Edgar and Charles Lottie Claggion. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Leonidas V. Eley; three sisters, Catharine Sparrow, Arthelia S. Brown, and Valarie Hill; five brothers, Charles Claggion, James Claggion, Lloyd Claggion, William Claggion, and Booker T. Claggion.

Wima received her education through the Norfolk Public Schools System, where she attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She became a Dental Technician and was employed at Virginia Dental Lab until her retirement. Wilma was a faithful member of Saint James AME Church in Berkley, where she served on the Stewardess Board until her illness. She has left us with very rich memories, and we will miss her dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her sister, Rina Monk of Brooklyn, New York; daughter Wilma Jean Eley of Washington, DC;her son, Dwight L. Eley, Sr., (Fabra) of Chesapeake, Virginia; three grandsons, Dwight L. Eley, Jr., Dominic J. Eley, and Reid Eley; one great-granddaughter Khloe Ruffin, and a host of family and friends.

A graveside service will be held 12 noon Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
