Chesapeake - Yvonne S. Robertson, 77, entered heaven's gates on August 2, 2012 at her home in Chesapeake, Va surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Nevie Cornelius and Sara Sessoms. She was preceded in death by her husband Henderson Robertson and daughter Adell Porter.

She leaves to cherish her memories; one loving sister Inez Sessoms; two sons, Thomas and Arthur Robertson; two daughters, Arthalia Lang and Elaine Robertson; six grandchildren, Shelby, Duwayno, Damien and Kendall Robertson, Ashley Lang and Adrienne Porter and one great grandson; Mycheal Robertson; one son-in-law, Andrew Lang, one daughter-in law, Pauletta Robertson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was a woman of deep faith in the Lord, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to her children and adored her grandchildren and great grandchild, instilling the love of God in each. She gave new meaning to the role of matriarch, finding unique ways to love and nurture each of them. They all felt as though they were her "favorite". Always encouraging, always teaching and never giving up on anyone was her calling. The nurturing that she offered extended well beyond her immediate family…she was a mother to her community; modeling the type of motherhood that many still strive towards. There is a special pride that came along with being one of "Mickey Robertson's kids". She will forever be remembered by her family, friends and loved ones for her love of the Lord, her zealous and caring spirit, her humor and her inspiring words. The mantle has been passed and her legacy will live well beyond generations to come.

The celebration of her home-going service will be held at 11:00 AM on August 8, 2012 at Bethany Baptist Church at 2587 Campostella Rd, Chesapeake, VA. Reverend Lynwood Hill Jr. will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. There will be a gathering of family and friends for viewing on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home in Chesapeake.
